Praying Together With Children - 2025

RESPOND Jesus tells his disciples about the life-giving strength of the Holy Spirit. Whilst we have physical needs for survival (food, shelter, clothing), too often we see money and possessions as the most important elements. Jesus reminds us that it is the Spirit that gives us life. Today, let us reflect on our spiritual goals... love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, goodness, meekness, or selfcontrol. Take a small piece of paper and cut out the shape of a leaf. On your leaf, choose a spiritual goal for yourself. On a larger piece of paper, draw the trunk and branches of a tree, and create a class tree full of our life-giving spiritual goals. GO OUT May the love of Christ inspire us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. LISTEN GATHER Let us pray that we will be aware of God’s nearness to us in our daily lives. (pause) O God, our protector, in your loving care for us guard us from every danger. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. A reading from the holy Gospel according to John (6:63-64, 67-69) Jesus said to his disciples: “The Spirit is the one who gives life! Human strength can do nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are from that life-giving Spirit. But some of you refuse to have faith in me.” Jesus then asked his twelve disciples if they were going to leave him. Simon Peter answered, “Lord, there is no one else that we can go to! Your words give eternal life. We have faith in you, and we are sure that you are God’s Holy One.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. 122
