Week 22 Ordinary Time Friday On Sunday we will celebrate Fathers’ Day. We remember our fathers with love for the gentle way they care for us. Let us pray for our fathers and for the generations of fathers before them. (pause) You care for us, O God, as a father cares for his children. Bless, protect and strengthen all the fathers of the world. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Let’s pray... A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke (14:25-27) Large crowds were walking along with Jesus, when he turned and said: “You cannot be my disciple, unless you love me more than you love your father and mother, your wife and children, and your brothers and sisters. You cannot come with me unless you love me more than you love your own life. You cannot be my disciple unless you carry your own cross and come with me. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Let’ Let ss listen to God’s word... God has given us many great gifts. One of the most special gifts God has given to us is the gift of our fathers, uncles, grandfathers and other father figures. As you listen to this quiet music, spend some time thanking God for all the wonderful things your dad, or other special man in your life does to show his love for you.
