3 We Respond... 4 We Go Forth... 2 We Listen... 1 We Pray... Saint Teresa of Avila in Spain, a great spiritual writer, taught people how to pray. Let us pray that we will pray more often. (pause) God of mystery, may we praise you when we are happy and turn to you in our sorrows. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. May the peace of Christ dwell in our hearts. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 15 October 2025 Wednesday Saint Theresa of Jesus A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Romans (8:26) In certain ways we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don’t know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. There are many ways to pray. We can pray by speaking words out loud or by singing the words. We can pray alone, in small groups or in our parish community at Mass. We can pray outdoors in nature, in a church, or in the car. Sometimes we want to spend time with God, but we don’t know what to say. Sitting in silence with God is a prayer too. Spend a few minutes sitting absolutely still, with your eyes closed, and listen to this piece of choral music called “Silent Prayer” by Ukrainian composer Mikhail Shukh. 186
