WE GO OUT WE LISTEN TO GOD’S WORD WE RESPOND WE GATHER TUESDAY Saints Simon and Jude 28 October 2025 Saints Simon and Jude were among the twelve apostles, the first disciples of Christ. Let us pray that we will follow Christ more closely. (pause) Lord God, by the intercession of Saint Simon and Saint Jude, bring many people to believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (22:2-3, 8-10) Jesus used this story to teach the people: “The kingdom of heaven is like what happened when a king gave a wedding banquet for his son. The king sent some servants to tell the invited guests to come to the banquet, but the guests refused. The king said to his servants, ‘It is time for the wedding banquet, and the invited guests don’t deserve to come. Go out to the street corners and tell everyone you meet to come to the banquet.’ They went out on the streets and brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike. And the banquet room was filled with guests.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Have you or your family members ever received an invitation to a party? What would happen if you wanted to have a party to celebrate your birthday but no one could come? The message of today’s gospel story is that everyone is invited to the banquet in the kingdom of heaven – it is up to us to accept the invitation. Watch this animated retelling of the story together.
