Praying Together With Children - 2025

Today we remember Saint Martin, a French bishop who lived nearly two thousand years ago. We also remember Catherine McAuley who was the Irish founder of the Sisters of Mercy. Both are renowned for their loving commitment to the poor. Let us pray that we too will be generous. (pause) O God, lover of the poor and needy, open our eyes to the needs of others. Make us serve them truly after the example and command of Christ our Lord. Amen. Today, we remember two special saints who helped the poor and needy. Today, we have wonderful organisations like St Vincent De Paul, who help people in our communities to get back on track when they are going through a tough time. Watch this video about some of the work that Vinnies does, and remember the great work they do next time you are donating food or clothing to one of their appeals. May the love of Christ inspire us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. A reading from the letter to the Hebrews (13:1-3, 16) Brothers and sisters: Keep being concerned about each other as the Lord’s followers should. Be sure to welcome strangers into your home. By doing this, some people have welcomed angels as guests, without even knowing it. Remember the Lord’s people who are in jail and be concerned for them. Don’t forget those who are suffering, but imagine that you are there with them. Don’t forget to help others and to share your possessions with them. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
