WE RESPOND WE GATHER WE GO FORTH Thursday Week 6 Ordinary Time A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians (1:26-27, 30) My dear friends: remember what you were when God chose you. The people of this world didn’t think that many of you were wise. But God chose the foolish things of this world to put the wise to shame. He chose the weak things of this world to put the powerful to shame. You are God’s children. He sent Christ Jesus to save us and to make us wise, acceptable, and holy. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. WE LISTEN Let us pray that we will trust in God and worship with joyful hearts. (pause) All-powerful God, increase our faith and help us to understand that you will make everything happen at the right time. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. May the Holy Spirit enlighten us. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 20 February 2025 Trusting that God sees and hears us, let us pray for the needs of the world. Pass an item from your prayer table (eg small cross, prayer stone) around the prayer circle. When you receive the item, make a prayer either aloud or in your heart, before you pass it to the person next to you. We pray together: For those who work hard to achieve at school: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those who feel weak or helpless: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. For those who are sad or ashamed: (pause) We pray as one. Gracious God, hear our prayer. 19
