Thursday THURSDAY AFTER ASH WEDNESDAY We gather We listen to God’s word We respond We go forth As we begin our Lenten journey, let us pray. (pause) God of love and mercy, walk with us through this Lenten season. May your love within us be seen in what we do. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (6:1,16-18) Jesus said to his disciples: “When you do good deeds, don’t try to show off. If you do, you won’t get a reward from your Father in heaven. When you go without eating, don’t try to look gloomy as those show-offs do when they go without eating. I promise you that they already have their reward. Instead, comb your hair and wash your face. Then others won’t know that you are going without eating. But your Father sees what is done in private, and he will reward you.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. Have you heard of “Random Acts of Kindness”? It is a worldwide movement, where people help others, or give unexpected gifts to people they do not know. The act is often done anonymously, not for reward or thanks... merely to spread a little happiness! Watch this short video on the importance of those small acts of kindness that can make a huge difference to other people. Can you think of any Random Acts of Kindness you could do today? May God fill our hearts with kindness and joy. Amen. May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 6 March 2025 29
