Monday WEEK 3 EASTER EDMUND RICE We gather We listen to God’s word We respond We go forth Edmund Rice, founder of the Christian Brothers, opened schools for poor children. Let us pray for those who work with the poor and disadvantaged. (pause) Loving God, you hear the cry of the poor. May we always respond in love to those in need. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. A reading from the letter of St James (2:14-17) My friends, what good is it to say you have faith, when you don’t do anything to show that you really do have faith? Can that kind of faith save you? If you know someone who doesn’t have any clothes or food, you shouldn’t just say, “I hope all goes well for you. I hope you will be warm and have plenty to eat.” What good is it to say this, unless you do something to help? Faith that doesn’t lead us to do good deeds is all alone and dead! The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Today we celebrate the work of Edmund Rice, who made his mission to educate children from poor families. Watch this video to learn more about the work of organisations in Australia and overseas that work with children and adults to improve their lives. May the joy of the Spirit fill our lives. Alleluia! Alleluia! May God bless us in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 5 May 2025 69
